We know that you trust us enough to share your selfies, your favorite hair accessory styles, and even your most creative custom design ideas when you use our app to test and build your perfect hair looks. Your privacy matters just as much as your perfect hair day, and we’ve written this policy to be 100% transparent about how we handle every piece of information you share with us, no confusing legal jargon included.

This policy applies to all Pilya mobile applications, web platforms and related services.

Our Core Privacy Promise

All our data handling practices follow 3 non-negotiable rules:

  • We only collect the minimum data needed to make your virtual hair accessory try-on and customization experience smooth and personalized
  • We never use your personal data for purposes you haven’t explicitly agreed to
  • You always have full control over every piece of data you share with us

What Information We Collect & How We Use It

1. Photos you voluntarily upload for try-on

When you select a photo from your album or take a selfie to test hair accessories, we process this image only to render the virtual hair accessory on your portrait accurately. Temporary processing copies of your photo are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 72 hours after you close the try-on session, unless you explicitly choose to save the finished look to your Pilya cloud gallery.

2. Custom accessory design preferences

When you adjust accessory materials, colors, sizes or save your favorite styles, we collect these preference data only to recommend more matching hair accessory options for you, and optimize our style library to fit your taste. You can turn off personalized recommendations at any time in your settings.

3. Optional account information

If you choose to register a Pilya account to sync your designs across devices, we only collect the contact information (email/phone number) you provide, to help you recover your account if needed. We will never send you unsolicited marketing messages without your explicit consent.

4. Basic device technical information

We collect non-identifiable device data including screen resolution, operating system version and app crash logs, only to fix bugs and optimize app performance for your device type. This data is never linked to your personal identity or account.

What We Will Never Do With Your Data

  • Never sell, rent or share your personal photos, custom design records or style preferences to third-party advertising agencies or marketing partners
  • Never use your private try-on photos to train our general AI synthesis models, unless you voluntarily submit your finished works to our public style gallery and sign a separate explicit authorization
  • Never access or scan any content in your device album other than the photos you actively select to upload for try-on
  • Never track your online activity outside of the Pilya app to serve you targeted ads
  • Never retain your personal data longer than necessary, or after you request to delete your account

How We Protect & Store Your Data

All data you save to your Pilya cloud gallery is encrypted end-to-end, and only you can access your stored works with your account credentials.

We conduct regular security audits of our servers and systems to prevent unauthorized data access. In the extremely unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify all affected users within 72 hours of confirming the incident.

You can choose to save all your finished looks only to your local device album instead of our cloud storage, in which case we will never have access to these files.

Your Full Control Over Your Data

You can exercise the following rights at any time through your app settings or by contacting us:

  • Request a full export of all data associated with your Pilya account, delivered to you in a common, machine-readable format within 15 business days, with no hidden fees
  • Delete all your cloud-stored works and account data permanently at any time. We will erase all your records within 24 hours of your request, with no retained backups
  • Opt out of personalized recommendations at any time, which will stop us from collecting and processing your style preference data
  • Request correction of any inaccurate personal information associated with your account

Third Party Services

Pilya may contain links to third-party e-commerce platforms where you can purchase physical versions of the hair accessories you design. When you click these links, we only share the ID of the specific accessory you selected to the third party, and no personal information about you will be transferred. Any activities you conduct on these third-party platforms are governed by their own privacy policies, and we bear no responsibility for their data handling practices.

Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy occasionally as we add new features to Pilya. We will notify all users of any changes through in-app announcement 15 days before the updated policy takes effect. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you may choose to delete your account and all associated data before the new policy becomes effective.
